When you look at the Feature Comparison between the various edition in Managing, you will find Metadata Preset Feature and Batch edit IPTC fields have been left out.

The only option I had was to upgrade to Professional/Ultimate - but I never uses the Develop or Edit mode as I have been using PhotoShop Elements since Version 2 and not keen to spend hours trying to learn another editing software. I still think that ACDSee is the most comprehensive DAM manager around, but after working with Home for a while the restricted IPTC batch add/edit was a huge issue for mee. Migrating from Lightroom when they went subscription, I was looking for a good DAM and found ACDSee Home. I am not aware of any other differences, but was rather disappointed when I first started out with ACDSee. Nor is there an option in RAW Display to Embed Preview or RAW Decode as shown in Tools > Option > General

The Manage mode is different to the one in Professional and Ultimate in that you can not add IPTC to more than one image at a time. If you want to add/edit batch IPTC data to your photo's you will be disappointed with ACDSee Home version. There is no option to turn off the labels and use more screen spaace to view photos. In Manage view, also so much screen space is taken up by white space and a label indicating what type of file (JPG) it is which seems unnecessary. Is there a menu item to start facial recognition again? I'll give it another try.ĪCDSee gets good independent reviews but I'm finding the interface quite clunky, it seems the various views can be better integrated.Have to click on the folder again in the folder list. Clearing the search bar does not cause all photos in the folder to show. Search is slow and only works in a folder, doesn't seem to work across folders? What am I missing? I'm searching for words in image filenames. There should be tool tip pop-ups indicating what an icon does, these are missing. The menus change depending on what view I'm in.On starting I always have to navigate to where my photos are, on another drive, not C:/photos I can't seem to set a default starting folder for my photos. Is there a way to double click on a face suggestion to see the original foto without having to switch views to VIEW than back to PEOPLE? Seems double clicking on a suggested face should open the original photo so I can see the context and confirm or reject the suggestion.Switching to SOURCE IMAGE view shows all photos but not the one from which the thumbnail came from so it's no help viewing all the source photos but not the one related to the thumbnail I'm trying to confirm or not confirm as the person. I can move the cursor and change VIEW to see the click back on PEOPLE to return to my work flow, that seems to be a really awkward work flow. In facial recognition, I can't double click on a suggested face to see the original picture to see the context to know who I am seeing in the thumbnail. How do I start again with facial recognition for one person? Is it possible? I'm not sure where facial recognition went off the rails, the suggestions were good at first, now it's suggesting all sorts of people. Facial recognition was working well then all of a sudden it added unrelated people, like hundreds to one person. Is there an ability to do batch confirmation?

  • In people mode, how to select multiple suggested faces and either confirm or not confirm? In suggested faces if I select multiple faces to remove and then click on the red "no" icon, all the suggested faces are removed.

I really rely on face recognition in Picasa which is what I'm looking for in a replacement. I have my photos stored by month and within month by if there are a lot of photos from one activity then in a subfolder "Hike to Mount XYZ" in that month. However my photo catalogue is over 100,000 images and Picasa seems to be starting to have problems, thumbnails are wrong and the sorting is not auto-updating. Google Picasa has served me well for years.
